"High and Dry" Holloway and Kennedy, 111 Avenue and 106 Street, Edmonton, 1908, Photographer E. Brown,
E. Brown fonds, Provincial Archives of Alberta
In Ernest Browns photo journal, he writes, " High and Dry was the slogan of the Real Estate sharks (Holloway and Kennedy) when offering land for sale sight unseen, even in the center of a muskeg. These pictures were taken April 7, 1908. I believe a court case was taken for misrepresentation. Note the planks over which the owner had to cross to get to his house. In one picture they are arriving in a boat. Two pictures show houses surrounded with water."
