Education Program Report, 2003-2004

One of the ASA's most important mandates is to provide educational opportunities in basic and advanced archival theory and practice. To meet this objective, the ASA's Education Program undertook the following activities in 2003-2004:

Fundamental Archival Education

The main activity in this area of the education program was the delivery of the annual Archives Institute:

Course: Archives Institute
Location: University of Calgary, Calgary
Dates: May 12 -17, 2003
Instructors: Margery Hadley, Michael Gourlie, Doug Cass, Don Bourdon, and Garth Clarke
Participants: 9

The ASA thanks Linda Fraser of the Canadian Architectural Archives, University of Calgary for acting as Institute host and providing the facility. The evaluations for this course were both instructive and positive. The annual schedule of the Institute permits a preliminary report on the 2004 Institute:

The ASA offered two special topics workshops in 2003-2004:

The Education Committee was successful in its applications to the Canadian Council of Archives for assistance in providing Special Topics workshops in 2004-2005. The preliminary information about these courses available at the time of the AGM is as follows:
