Individual-Member-at-Large Report
Garth Clarke

For the past year I've had the honour of working with the other members of the ASA Executive in my capacity as the Individual Member-at-Large. For a relative neophyte in the profession, it has been a learning experience to act on the Executive. I have been a member of the Communications, Grants and the 20th Anniversary committees. This has been a bell-weather year for the ASA: increasing membership, increased grant requests, federal funding for implementing CAIN, and the large provincial Centennial Heritage grant. The ASA has new challenges ahead, as we implement our plans in the run up to the centennial of the province in 2005. My goal is to help the ASA Executive develop and implement the policies, procedures, and programs that will be needed to achieve the goals outlined by our predecessors. I look forward to my second year.

Secretary's Report
Jim Bowman

This is the conclusion of my two-year term as Secretary and of my four years' service on the ASA Board. My responsibilities have generally involved recording the minutes of Board meetings and maintaining the records of the Society. One major achievement has been the compilation of the ASA Board Manual, which outlines the policies defining the duties of the Board members and committee chairs. This is the first time since 1992 that the ASA has had a manual to provide information on policies, to ensure continuity, and to serve as a reference if questions arise.
