NEWSLETTER December 1996 Volume 16 Number 3 ARCHIVES TECHNICIANS FORM SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPan e-mail message from J. BoykoRecently, the Archives Association of Ontario recognized the formation of the Archives Technicians Special Interest Group. This group was formed in order to promote the value and interest of Archives Technicians through the encouragement of developmental programs and the sharing of information among technicians in the archives field. Despite being a provincially recognized group, we are interested in hearing from people working as Archives Technicians throughout the country. Likewise, if you are interested in receiving news concerning the group's activities please drop us a line. With the developments in training within archives, through college programs and in post-appointment workshops, the idea that archives technicians can bring quality work, professionalism and enthusiasm to the field has become a reality. In carrying out our mandate, the group is currently creating an information brochure. To do so, we are seeking input from archives technicians concerning their current job functions and places of work. Our aim is to promote the activity of Archives Technicians within the archival and information management fields with the ultimate aim being the promotion of archives within the community. You can contact the chair of this group through email at (ca817@freenet.carleton.ca), or the secretary at (jboyko@trentu.ca). |
