W.O. Mitchell's 1947 novel Who Has Seen the Wind is a beautiful
work which evokes a sense of place by exquisitely presenting
both the physical place of the Prairies and the place of
childhood.
In this excerpt from the manuscript of the novel the
young Brian, aged four, discovers the wonders of the
landscape - a landscape of plants, insects, birds - and another young boy.
