"The poet's mother"
Partial draft of the poem (typescript and holograph)

Poetry, criticism, essays and novels are the many genres in which the Governor General award winning writer Robert Kroetsch expresses passion. He was born in Heisler, Alberta and often says that he became a writer because in reading literary works he did not find his community reflected in any work. He taught for many years at the State University of New York - Binghamton and at the University of Manitoba. While he has returned to Alberta he nevertheless often teaches, lectures and reads his works in many countries around the world.
"The poet's mother" is a beautiful poem expressing grief at the loss of his mother and great love.
