Writing series. -- 1906-1957. -- 10 cm of textual records. -- Series consists of four sub-series: 

A. Manuscripts, 1906-1950; B. Published magazines, 1922-1957; C. Lecture outlines, [ca.1935-ca.1950];

D. Newspaper articles and letters to the editor, 1914-1956. -- Constitutes Series IV of the Bert Riggall fonds.  

Manuscripts. -- 1906-1950. -- 3 cm of textual records. -- Manuscripts consist mainly of hunting and rifle articles for submission to sport magazines. Articles are: Sport in the Canadian Rockies, A Tramp after Bighorns, An Iliad of the Imp (re grizzly bear), My Lucky Stone, Hunting the Black Bear, Hunting Mountain Sheep, Giants of the Highrock, Horse Packing, The Ascent of Chief Mountain, Just One of Those Things. Includes holograph and typescript versions of most. Also includes poem "The King of the Rockies" and some drafts of out-going letters, 1906-1907.

Published magazines. -- 1922-1957. -- 12 textual records (6 cm) -- Magazines contain articles, letters or photographs by or about Bert Riggall. Articles by Bert Riggall include: Arms and the Boy; Goats, Sheep and Guns; The Three Muskateers; and, A Record Twice Lost. Other authors include Martin Bovey, Kerry Wood and Jack O'Connor. -- Title based on contents of files. -- Location : M376 / 102 to 105.

 

Lecture outlines. -- [ca.1935-ca.1950] -- 5 textual records (.5 cm) -- Outlines consist of topic lists for lectures and field trips entitled: The charm of the Rockies, Beauties and wonders of the S.W. Newspaper articles and letters to the editor. -- 1914-1956. -- .5 cm of textual records. -- File consists of articles by or about Bert Riggall and his letters to the editor. Material pertains mainly to birds; also bears, rivers, guiding, hunting, speaking engagements, fish and game, other. -- Title based on contents of files. -- Location : M376 / 107.

Newsclippings. -- 1914-1956. -- 1 cm of print material. -- Newsclippings are articles and letters to the editor collected by Bert Riggall and pertaining to Waterton Lakes National Park, weather (especially snowfall), obituaries, cattle, ranching, wildlife, mountaineering, Andy Russell, Sam Clark. Mainly from Lethbridge Herald and Pincher Creek Echo. -- Title based on contents of files. -- Location : M376 / 116.
