Park family fonds. -- 1906-1966. -- 3 photograph albums (ca.2300 prints). -- ca.450 photographs (304 prints, ca.150 negatives). -- 1 cm of textual records. -- William S. Park, born ca.1865, was a professional photographer who came to Calgary, ca.1909, from Ontario. He was accompanied by his daughter, Hetty (Lolly) Park, 1888-1968, who worked as a secretary in Calgary. The Parks travelled extensively and attended Alpine Club of Canada camps, ca.19l0-1935. They were close friends with photographer Harry Pollard and his family. -- Fonds consists of two series: I. Family photographs, 1906-[ca.1960]; II. I. Family photographs Family photographs series. -- 1906-[ca.1960]. -- 3 photograph albums (ca.2300 prints). -- ca.450 photographs (304 prints, ca.150 negatives). -- 1 cm of textual records. -- Series consists of three sub-series: A. Photograph albums; B. Prints; C. Negatives. Photographs pertain to family travels and activities, including mountain recreation and Alpine Club of Canada camps. -- Title based on contents of series. -- Constitutes Series I of the Park family fonds.
II. Hetty Park papers Hetty Park papers series. -- [before 1966]. -- 1 cm of textual records. -- Series consists of notebooks, greeting and post cards, letters. One letter, 1933, is addressed to a Mrs. Simpson and pertains to the protection of wild flowers and plants. Notebooks include addresses and geology and mineralogy notes. Accompanied by a calling card engraving plate in the name of Miss Hetty Park (retained with textual records). -- Title based on contents of series. -- Constitutes Series II of the Park family fonds. -- Location : M437. |
