Georgia Engelhard fonds. -- 1934-[ca.1960]. -- 278 photographs (277 prints, 1 copy negative). -- 1 photograph album (72 prints). -- Georgia Engelhard, 1906-1986, was a mountaineer, photographer and writer based at New York, U.SA. and Switzerland. Engelhard made thirty-two first ascents in the Rocky and Purcell Mountains. -- Prints were returned to Eaton Cromwell Jr., Engelhard's step-son, by Monkmeyer Press Photo Service, New York. Album was inherited by Eaton Cromwell Jr. and Mary Cromwell. -- Fonds consists of three series: I. Georgia Engelhard photographs, 1940s-1950s; II. My Album / Edward C. Porter, dedicated to Engelhard, contains 72 photographs by Porter, mainly of Canada; III. Portrait of Georgia Engelhard, 1934. -- Location: V751. European views pertain to the Zermatt region of Switzerland, the Matterhorn, Val d'Herens and the Dolomites (Italy). Includes many photographs illustrating climbing techniques and guide training. Canadian views pertain to the Lake Louise area, Victoria Glacier, Mount Athabasca and other locations.
