Hamilton Gault, a Montreal businessman, raised and equipped the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in August 1914 but he didn't take full command of the Regiment until the end of the War. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in November 1918 and placed in command so that he could bring the Regiment home to Canada.
