The Overseas Nursing Sisters Association of Canada was formed in 1920 to bring together nurses who had served with the Canadian Army Medical Corps in World War I, "to stimulate friendship among members" and "to give aid and comfort to nurses in need." In 1946 the Association changed its name to the Nursing Sisters Association of Canada. During the 1960s the aim of the group was extended and its members began to work for national unity and international peace. In 2001 the national organization dissolved due to dwindling membership.
