A Cree word meaning 'meeting place', Nakiska was the first venue in Olympic Winter Games history to hold all alpine skiing events. The freestyle moguls skiing demonstration event was also held here. The Province of Alberta paid for constructing the $27.1 million venue. It was officially opened December 5, 1986. |
