Excerpts from the diary of Alda Dale Russell, Peace River Country, ca. 1920|
The Provincial Archives of Alberta
Alda Dale Russell, 1887-1977, lived in the Peace River Country, near the Swipe Lake / Sunset House / High Prairie area. Alda and her husband had six children.
In the first entry of her diary below, she laments the lack of interesting reading material. Her writing later turns to "Harlequin Romance" style. Perhaps because the reading material was so limited, she began to write for her own, and who knows who else's entertainment.
