City of Calgary Fire Department daily journal, January 17, 1910
City of Calgary Archives

This excerpt from the Fire Department daily journal begins with a report on the weather, and proceeds to describe the somewhat mundane activities that filled the day, while they waited for the fire alarm. When the alarm did come, it was during Fireman Knight's wedding. The fire in a stable (caused by careless smoking) was efficiently put out in a mere 25 minutes, giving the fire chief time to briefly return to the wedding.
