And we should not forget the wild animals that occasionally are tamed and gives us years of companionship. Animals have been trained for films and plays and of course circus acts but very few have been taken into the home. This was the case for 6 month old Tuffy. Mr. R. Gray came into Edmonton in November 1949 from Slave Lake and he brought his pet bear Tuffy. They shared the cab of his truck and even stopped at a downtown restaurant for something to eat. “Tuffy behaved like a real gentleman and had a ham sandwich” said Mr. Gray.
