Olympians who served in defense of Canada in World War One:

Alex De Coteau, born November 19, 1887 in Battleford Saskatchewan, served on the Edmonton Police Force, enlisted April 1916, killed in action 1917. Alex competed in the 5000m race at the V Olympic Games in Stockholm, Sweden in 1912 and was a noted long distance racer. Alex was Alberta's first Olympic athlete.
